DAILY SCHEDULE

TARDIES

Promptness is a virtue that is highly respected by teachers, classmates, and future employers. Tardiness to class or school interrupts the entire class. Please be at school and class on time. The tardy bell is the signal for the class to begin. If tardy to school the student must be brought to the main office by the       parent(s) and then SIGNED in by the parent. Failure to report to the office will result in the student being recorded with an unexcused absence from classes that are missed.

ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES

Maximum days absent: The limit is 18 days per year. However, the school does not expect students to be absent that often. If a student exceeds a total of 18 days absent, the student could be retained in his/her present grade.

Compulsory Attendance:

All children are required to attend school regularly, parents are legally required to send their children to school regularly (and can be punished for not doing so) and school personnel are required to investigate instances where children are not regularly attending school.

Below are the ORC statutes:

  1. All children between the ages of 6 and 18 are required to attend school. (ORC 3313.01)
  2. Parents are required to send their children to school and are subject to legal penalties for failing to do so. (3313.02)
  3. School personnel by law must investigate truant students. (3321.16)
  4. The district can require the parent to attend the TCESC Truancy Intervention program and failure of the parent to successfully complete the program will result in charges being filed. (3313.663 (B))

Medical excuses: Student absences under a doctor's medical excuse or from childhood diseases (such as chicken pox or measles) are not included in the 18 days identified above. Medical excuses need to be presented no later than 48 hours after a students return to school. The excuse from the doctor's office must sanction the absence and clearly note what dates are being approved by the doctor.
